    Hi everyone,
When I try to open Outlook I get the following message:
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.
Ive tried everything but cant seem to fix the problem.

Hello and welcome to Windows PC Forums.
    This is what I'd advise:
    1. Click on Start and type Regedit into the search box.
    2. Open Regedit
    3. Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem
    4. Open Windows Messaging (Subsystem) and then delete Profiles

I hope this works for you

Thanks so much. The Regedit trick worked for me. I was having a similar problem. When I tried openin Outlook it said

"Cannot open your default e-mail folder. The file c:\users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\ username_hotmail.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)"
Somehow the regedit trick solved this.

The regedit solution worked where everything else had failed. Thanks!
