No sound after installing Win 7 x64 – Realtek audio
Hi, I’ve just installed Windows 7 x64, updating from Windows XP x32. Most things are working fine but there is no sound coming from my PC. I get the error message "No audio output device is installed" when I click on the volume icon.
I’m running a HP website, but they don’t have any audio drivers that work for my PC. I have a Realtek sound card, but their codecs don’t do anything either. I also can’t find Realtek HD Audio Manager in the device manager.
It’s really annoying that there is no sound coming from my computer.
Thanks for your help.

It sounds like your computer is not recognizing your sound card.
Try entering the BIOS to enable on-board audio. To enter the BIOS, reboot your computer and press the key to enter setup (usually F1 or F2).
Then look for the entry titled "enable on-board audio" and make sure it is set to enable.
When you restart your computer it should recognize your sound card and find Realtek HD audio.

Thanks a lot. I tried everything to get my sound card to work but I never thought of this. My PC now recognizes Realtek HD and my sound is working again.
